The Great Dane, The Great Fart, and the Great Fart War of 2026

There are certain things you should know before entering my family.
One: My mother, Meema, has absolutely no boundaries when it comes to her grand-dog.
Two: Cadence, aka The Sugar Bear, is a Great Dane who weighs over 140 FUCKING POUNDS.
Three: when you combine a 140+ pound Great Dane, a grandma who believes the answer to every question is “sure, give it to her,” and a dog with a digestive system that is basically held together by hope and prayer…
YOU GET FARTS.
Not ordinary farts.
Not the occasional innocent dog toot.
No.
We are talking WEAPONS-GRADE ASS GAS.
The kind of gas that makes you reconsider whether indoor plumbing and modern civilization were really necessary.
We went to my mom’s house for my birthday weekend, and naturally, Meema saw Cadence and immediately forgot every dietary rule we have ever established.
Cadence has a sensitive stomach.
Meema: “I think she can have some.”
Us: “Probably not.”
Meema: “Just a little.”
Cadence: already eating it
Meema: “Look how happy she is!”
And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is how you end up with a 140-pound biological weapon sleeping in your house.
For DAYS afterward, we've been dealing with the consequences.
Cadence's gastrointestinal tract has been staging what appears to be a full-scale rebellion.
And the farts…
THE FARTS.
I warned Jet.
We were sitting on the couch relaxing, minding our own business, when I told him:
“Her farts have been HORRIBLE.”
Jet, foolishly confident and clearly lacking the survival instincts necessary to live with a Great Dane, looked at me and said:
“How bad can they be?”
I want that sentence permanently engraved somewhere as a warning to future generations.
Because that night, we found out.
We were in bed.
Cadence was lying there peacefully, approximately the size of a small horse, with her
140+ pound ass pointed directly at Jet’s face.
And then…
SHE DEPLOYED.
I don't know what happened inside that dog.
I don't know what Meema fed her.
I don't know whether her intestines had finally achieved sentience and decided to seek revenge.
But that fart was so fucking toxic that Jet's entire face changed.
His eyes watered.
He gagged.
His soul briefly left his body.
And I walked back into the bedroom from the bathroom and immediately understood that something had gone terribly wrong.
The smell was so rancid that it didn't smell like a fart anymore.
It smelled like a crime scene.
A crime scene that needed to be evacuated.
Jet looked at me, visibly traumatized, and said:
“OH MY GOD, BABE. IT’S SO BAD! I CAN TASTE IT! I THINK I HAVE BRAIN DAMAGE FROM THIS!”
At this point, I was laughing so hard I was basically useless.
Because what exactly was I supposed to do?
Call 911?
“Hi, yes. My dog has chemically incapacitated my boyfriend.”
“Is anyone else injured?”
“Only his respiratory system and possibly his will to live.”
But apparently, Cadence heard her dad insulting her beloved toots.
And she was offended.
Deeply.
Personally.
Spiritually.
Because Jet eventually rolled over, trying to escape the toxic blast zone, and prepared to finally go to sleep.
And then…
JET FARTED.
Cadence's head shot straight up.
She looked at him like:
“EXCUSE ME?”
Her eyes widened.
She stared at him.
And then, in what I can only assume was an act of canine retaliation, she leaned over and
started burying his fart with her nose.
Now, if you know Cadence, this is important.
She only does that when she's trying to protect or save something…
or when something is dead.
So we are still conducting our investigation into whether Cadence was attempting to
rescue Jet's dignity or simply trying to bury the evidence.
Either way, the message was clear:
“You want to talk shit about MY farts? Fine. Let's discuss yours.”
And suddenly we had a full-blown conflict.
Cadence had fired first.
Jet retaliated.
Cadence attempted to neutralize the threat.
And I was lying there in the middle of this 140-pound Great Dane versus Human Ass Gas showdown, wondering where I went wrong in life.
This wasn't a relationship anymore.
This was chemical warfare.
There were no winners.
Only survivors.
And honestly?
I wasn't one of them.
The worst part is that Cadence probably thinks she did nothing wrong.
She's a giant, majestic, beautiful Great Dane.
She has no idea that her ass is currently considered a hazardous materials site.
She just looks at us with those giant innocent eyes like:
“What?”
WHAT?
YOU KNOW WHAT.
Your ass has become a federally questionable environment.
And I blame Meema.
Because Meema doesn't see a 140-pound dog with a sensitive stomach.
She sees her granddog.
And granddogs apparently operate under a completely different set of laws.
If the Sugar Bear wants it?
The Sugar Bear gets it.
If The Sugar Bear likes it?
The Sugar Bear gets seconds.
If The Sugar Bear's stomach violently rejects it later?
Well… that's tomorrow's problem.
And tomorrow's problem is apparently my fucking bedroom smelling like the gates of Hell.
So here we are.
Still recovering.
Still opening windows.
Still questioning whether Jet has actually suffered permanent neurological damage.
And still waiting for Cadence's digestive system to return from whatever demonic
vacation it has been on.
Meanwhile, The Sugar Bear is sleeping peacefully.
Because of course she is.
She is 140+ pounds of Great Dane privilege.
She pays no rent.
She contributes nothing financially.
She destroys the atmosphere.
She eats whatever Meema gives her.
She farts directly into her father's face.
She starts an international incident.
And then she goes to sleep like an innocent angel.
Honestly?
She's lucky she's cute.
Because at this point, if Cadence lets one more fart rip in this house, we're going to have
to put a fucking evacuation plan on the refrigerator.
THE GREAT FART WAR OF 2026 CONTINUES.
God help us.
And God help Jet's lungs.
