Why the Hell Did I Start a Blog?

At some point in my life, I apparently looked around at my full-time job, relationship, house, family, dog, cooking, cleaning, laundry, bills, projects, and the approximately 47 tabs permanently open in my brain and thought:

You know what I need? A fucking blog.

Because clearly I wasn’t busy enough.

And so Coffee, Chaos & Kelly was born.

But the truth is, this little corner of the internet means a hell of a lot more to me than recipes, meal plans, shit I bought because the internet told me to, and stories about whatever ridiculous thing happened at my house this week.

I started this because somewhere along the way, I realized I had a lot to say.

Shocking, I know.

I Wanted Somewhere to Be Completely Myself

Not the professional version of me.

Not the polite version.

Not the version who rereads an email four times to make sure there aren't too many exclamation points.

Me.

The woman who loves hard, swears probably more than necessary, cooks without always measuring, drinks entirely too much coffee, makes questionable purchases, cries at sentimental shit, laughs at wildly inappropriate things, and is still figuring life out as she goes.

For a long time, I think I believed life was supposed to look a certain way.

Have your shit together. Make good decisions. Keep the mess private. Smile for the picture.

Well…

Fuck that.

Life is messy.

People are messy.

Relationships are messy. Families are messy. Starting over is messy. Healing is messy.

Getting older is an absolute hormonal circus nobody adequately warned me about.

And sometimes dinner is homemade bread and something beautiful simmering on the stove.

Sometimes it's tater tots and whatever the hell is left in the refrigerator.

Both versions count.

This Is More Than a Blog to Me

This is a scrapbook of the life I'm actually living.

The good stuff. The ridiculous stuff. The recipes that become family traditions. The adventures. The house projects. The people I love. The meals around our table. The things that make me laugh until I can't breathe.

And occasionally, the harder stuff too.

Because I don't want to only document the pretty parts.

I've lived enough life to know that things don't always go according to the plan you had in your head.

Sometimes life burns the fucking plan, throws the ashes in your face, and says, “Okay bitch, now what?”

And sometimes "now what?" turns into something you never expected.

A different life.

A happier life.

A life that finally feels like yours.

I Want This Place to Feel Like Sitting at My Kitchen Table

That's probably the best way I can explain Coffee, Chaos & Kelly.

Come in.

Take your shoes off.

Ignore whatever the dog is doing.

There's coffee somewhere. There's probably something to eat. There may be laundry sitting somewhere it absolutely does not belong.

And then we talk.

About dinner.

Relationships.

Getting older.

Starting over.

Things we love.

Things that piss us off.

The stupid thing I bought at 11:47 p.m. because TikTok convinced me it would revolutionize my existence.

The recipe you absolutely need to make.

The thing I'm struggling with.

The thing I'm celebrating.

Real fucking life.

I don't want anyone coming here and thinking, Wow, she's really got her shit together.

First of all, please don't spread lies about me.

I want you to come here and think:

“Oh thank God. Me too.”

And Maybe That's the Whole Point

If one of my recipes becomes something your family asks for again and again…

If one of my stories makes you laugh on a day you desperately needed it…

If something I write makes you feel understood…

If I convince you to try something new, take the trip, cook the meal, buy the ridiculous kitchen gadget, laugh at yourself, or stop waiting for your life to look perfect before you enjoy it…

Then this little blog has done exactly what I hoped it would.

I'm not trying to teach anyone how to live a perfect life.

I sure as shit don't have one.

I'm just documenting mine.

The coffee.

The food.

The people.

The love.

The mistakes.

The adventures.

The things I'm still learning.

And, obviously, the chaos.

This is my little piece of the internet where I get to show up exactly as I am.

No pretending.

No perfect aesthetic required.

No sucking in my stomach for the picture - I am chubby - we all know this.

Just me, building a life I love and telling you all about it along the way.

So welcome to Coffee, Chaos & Kelly.

I'm genuinely glad you're here.

Now grab some coffee. Shit's probably about to get weird.
